Bren Hall receives triple-platinum certification.

Bren Hall has made history and achieved a triple-platinum LEED certification. Recently, the U.S. Green Building Council released their "Defining projects and policies of the 2017 Top 10 States." California, which consistently outnumbers all other states in the number of certifications year after year, saw over 450 projects in 2017 ranging from office, retail, health care and education spaces. This year, UC Santa Babara's Bren Hall was California's highest-scoring project. The project was carried out by students enrolled in ENV S 194GB, a year-long course that gives students first-hand experience in LEED tools and practice as they conduct a real LEED certification for an existing campus building. The course also prepares students for LEED accreditation.  Check out this great article to learn more about this achievement and how Bren Hall had the highest scoring project out of all 2,647 LEED projects certified in the entire country during 2017!

The USGBC also featured two articles that share the perspective of the course instructor, Brandon Kaysen and the perspective of a student, ES alum Christopher Anderson.
