
Lecturer
Carlyle Johnston has been working professionally in environmental policy for three decades. For the past two decades, Carlyle has worked at the Santa Barbara County Department of Public Works developing policies, programs, and facilities related to waste management. He is currently the Tajiguas ReSource Center Manager which is a series of facilities that process and recycle waste and organics from most of the communities of Santa Barbara County including UCSB and Isla Vista.
Previous to his time working locally in waste management, Carlyle primarily worked in both the private and non-profit sectors with a focus on environmental policy and community relations in San Francisco and Oakland. Carlyle was born and raised in Santa Barbara.
