Associate Professor Liz Carlisle recently received a Regents Humanities Faculty Fellowship to work on a new book, tentatively titled Living Roots: Perennial Foods for an Abundant Future. Along with her co-editor Aubrey Streit Krug, Director of the Perennial Cultures Lab at The Land Institute (pictured with Liz here), Liz will be commissioning and editing some thirty personal essays from scientists, farmers, chefs, and Indigenous land stewards at the forefront of a movement to center food systems on climate-resilient perennial plants. The book, which will also feature original poetry and art, is scheduled for release in Spring 2026 on Island Press.
